Don’t let the trophy highjack your hunt.

More and more these days you see people laser focused on the trophy. I see it and I hope you see it too. It’s definitely been more noticeable over the last ten years. Please don’t misunderstand me. I (just like anyone else) would love to get a trophy every time I hunt. Who wouldn’t?

I’ve been very blessed to have a father who helped me to look past the glory of a trophy. My father taught me to focus on the experience, the time spent with family, friends, and providing food for the family. Above all, to enjoy God’s creation, and be thankful for what God has provided for me. That my friends is what hunting is truly about! Enjoy your hunts as you should. Don’t loose sight of the true trophy of a hunt… Memories.

Don’t let the trophy highjack your hunt.

Why I do it?

The connection I have to the outdoors is truly hard to explain. I am certain many other sportsman can relate when I say “it’s in my blood”! I live and breathe to be outdoors-smelling the air, seeing the sunrise and getting close to nature is what it is mostly about. There is however one thing that takes precedence over my love for the outdoors and that is my love for God. Our CREATOR. I haven’t always been a follower of Christ, in fact, I was the guy who used to make every excuse known to man to keep a wall between my father and I. One day I accepted Christ into my heart and from that day forward I have been a new man. So what does that have to do with the outdoors? Let me tell you! When I hit the woods today, regardless of my mission, my connection to the landscape is far greater today than it ever was prior to having a relationship with God. I literally look at things differently. In the simplest forms, I slow down-take it all in! The sights, the smells, the experience, the connection to the Creator- it is why I do it. To be closer to my father, to marvel at his work and to savor the blessings created.

Why do you do it?

Elko Sportsman’s Expo

I want to thank each and everyone that FOYO had came in contact with at the Elko Sportsman’s Expo. For FOYO, it was a successful event! Our team at FOYO are pleased to have been a part of the Expo and enjoyed sharing what we are about with others. Again, thank you to all vendors that we met, and to all the people as well! The support that we recieved was amazing! Please continue to follow us as we continue to move forward with the path that Christ has put us on! We look forward to sharing many great outdoor adventures with all of you! God bless you all!

The journey continues…

The journey for Fountain of Youth Outdoors (FOYO) began with Jesus, and I seeking a way to serve him.
In 2018, I was considering joining a prison ministry, and even considered doing a street ministry. I was
inspired by my cousin Steven who was running a street ministry in Sacramento California. The man is on
fire for Jesus! Seeing the effect of the street ministry was amazing! People’s lives were being changed!
Being a Christian, I knew that I could do more. That I should do more.
I have heart for children. I have three. One girl and two boys, whom I love dearly. It pains me to see
children suffer. If we watch the news, we see plenty of it. From kidnappings to deaths, many children
are suffering. Some may not have a father or someone to mentor them. So what do we do about it?
Last year, while trying to figure out how to better serve Jesus, it became clear to me. I was to start a
youth ministry that is totally centered around Christ! Being that I love the outdoors, what better way to
serve. With technology and all the distractions in life, kids are faced with a challenge. Some don’t have
much incentive to play outdoors.
The good Lord put it on my heart to step out. Take a leap of faith. Ever since I stepped out in faith, he
has blown my mind. He has blessed our team and I tremendously. He has assembled a team that is solid
in the Christian faith, and many of the team is in law enforcement. Mathew 7:7,8 “Ask and it will be
given to you ; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who
asked receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened”.
I can tell each and everyone reading this that Jesus has plans for us. I believe that FOYO will have a
positive effect on peoples lives! Not only children, but parents and our community as well!
